Troubleshooting

My license key won't activate

Check that you copied the whole key, with no trailing spaces. If you've already activated on 2 Macs, deactivate one first. A license covers 2 at a time. Still stuck? Email hello@getlegible.app and we'll sort it.

My notes aren't showing up

Legible only reads Markdown (.md) files. If a folder looks empty, confirm it actually contains .md files, then re-pick it with Change Vault…. Files inside dot-folders (like .obsidian) are ignored by design.

A note isn't updating

Legible re-indexes changes automatically, but if a freshly edited note looks stale, switching away and back forces a refresh.

An image or embed is missing

Legible resolves images and embeds relative to your vault. If an embed shows as unresolved, confirm the target file exists in the vault and the name matches.

The update didn't install

Make sure Legible can reach the network, then try Check for Updates… again. Updates are signed, so a failed signature check will refuse to install. That's the safety net working, not a bug. If it persists, download the latest build fresh from the site.
